CRITICAL PRODUCTIVE - V2.1 POST-CAPITALIST CITY? - WINTER 2013

What would a post-capitalist city look like? Work in this issue contextualizes literary, science fiction an visual culture: with work from Morgan Ng on sustainability's Achilles' heel, Madhu Dubey on the deep structures of science fiction narrative as it locks in age-old stereotypes of identity, David Bieri on the financialization of real state, and Sabine Haenni on imaging global urban conditions.

Works by Steve Schwenk, Livia Corona, Doug Rickard, and Michael Zelehoski explore post-disaster landscapes and capitalist conditions in New ORleans, Mexico, Google Streetview, and the embedded materiality of shipping pallets. Projects by Superflex, Giancarlo Mazzanti, arquitectura 911sc, and Luis Úrculo explore bankrupt banks and flooded McDonald's, the architectural libraries, and the commodification of architectural icons.
